“Post-Industrial Salmon”

Salmon fry have been discovered in the River Calder flowing through Burnley and Colne town centres in Lancashire, as well as in the River Dearne , a tributary of the River Don, in South Yorkshire. The salmon in the Dearne are the first spotted in the river for 150 years. Both rivers were once severely polluted by industry and have recently benefited from the building of fish passages.
